Development of Low-Viscosity and High-Performance Biobased Monobenzoxazine from Tyrosol and Furfurylamine

18-01-2021

The partner of the ATHENS Materia Nova project, the innovation center of the University of Bergen, has just synthesized a new structure of benzoxazine precursors that become liquid at relatively low temperature (i.e. 70 ° C). Interestingly, the precursors are obtained from bio-based reagents obtained from renewable sources. In addition, after curing the resin shows an excellent thermo-mechanical resistance which should ensure good retention of the whole. All these properties make it possible to envision the development of structural adhesive compositions which are easy to manipulate and apply. The results are published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal “Materials” (https://doi.org/10.3390/ma1402... ). For more information, please contact Materia Nova (leila.bonnaud@materianova.be).
